Very Busy

I haven’t had a chance to post here recently. I have been very busy with school, phpBB, and XtroCMS. I’ll breifly go over some them.

With school the end of the quarter is tomorrow (Wednesday) so lots of big projects have been due the past two weeks. Right now I am writing a book report. Its really easy though. Nothing big will be due after that book report for a while and usually the last quarter of the year doesn’t have any big projects although I have two AP tests coming up :(

Lets just say being Team Leader isn’t all that easy. So many decisions need to be made by me and lots of dicussion has been going on about some cool new tools we hope to be using by the time Olympus is released. You’ll just have to wait and see what these are.

I haven’t had a chance to do any validation for a while. Good thing I have four other great guys that are doing it! They are doing awesome on making sure the queue doesn’t get backed up. Great work guys!

Catdb for Olympus is coming a long fine. A little slower than I would have liked but it is getting there. I’ll be posting some of the features when it get closer to being done. I probably won’t release it to the public so it will only be used on phpbb.com.

I have been working on the frontend for XtroCMS. Thats coming a long nicely. I just need to iron out the little things and actually code a little part of the template system. Backend still needs some work. I can’t remember if I have done any updates.

I have been seriously thinking about releasing XtroCMS for free. What do you think?

Well, I think you should start out by releasing XtroCMS free. This will catch on some users and make your CMS well known. They’ll have a chance to try it out for free on their site, and play around with it. If after a while, you decide you’ve put a lot of work in it that merits it to be commercial, you can then switch it to being a paid version, while there’s another one that’s for example 1.0.2; the paid version could be something like 2.2.1, so it would be visible that the best way to go for the user would be to get the paid version.

BTW, what do you mean CatDB? Is that one of your upcoming MODs for Olympus?

CatDB is what the MOD Database and Style Database at phpbb.com runs off of. http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/catdb.php?db=1
