While browsing a message board, I came across a couple of posts about the phpBB MOD Template. The person who said these things obviously has never worked with a userbase as large and with a skill range as wide as phpBB’s.
the developers of phpBB are obviously Windows noobs - else their promotion of that MODs (diff for idiots) couldn’t be explained
The MOD Template isn’t for us to use, it is for the users. I’ll explain more further down.
I should probably be amused by phpBBs so called “MODs”. But really, I couldn’t imagine why anybody would want to hand-patch a portal script, if a patch is so much easier to apply - and it was quite irritating to see them recommend this stange MOD scheme over and over again.
We have the MOD Template so that the “Windows n00bs” can install MODs. These users, as you know, don’t understand diff files and how to apply patches. We provide and require users to use the MOD Template because of this. This template makes it easy to read and understand how to install a MOD which anyone can do.
I, personally, would not like to provide support on how to apply patches and how to read diff files. That would be a nightmare.

I passed both the AP tests I took this year. I got a 3 on the US History test which I am happy I got. I wasn’t sure I was going to pass this one so it is a relief to find out that I did pass. I got a 5 on the BC Calculus test which I already knew I was going to get.
For those that don’t know, AP stands for Advanced Placement tests. They get you College credit while you are still in High School. The scoring is 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest. You need a 3 or higher to pass.

… two days late, oh well. This year we did the same thing we do every year, go eat breakfast, watch the parade, hang out all afternoon, and then go to the fireworks at night with the relatives. The parade sucked, as usual, but the fireworks were good.
The next day I wake up and visit my site, mods.best-dev.com, and see this message:
LifeChamber Was Here! Your MySQL Database Username Is **** And The Password Is ****
My site was hacked. From the looks of it, all he/she did was get my MySQL username and password and then edit index.php. Everything else is fine. I still haven’t contacted the ISP of the person that did this nor have I fixed my site. I really need to do that soon. Probably tomorrow.
Getting hacked was my fault. I didn’t update to 2.0.16 of phpBB. I knew there was a critical security problem in it but I didn’t update. Well, I learned my lesson. I’m just glad it wasn’t as bad as it could have been.
I got the Halo 2 Map Pack today. I already had four of the new maps and spent today looking at the other five. I haven’t played any of them, just looked. Most of them seem really fun. Tomorrow evening I’ll for sure play them. I’ll post my impressions on them.
Recently I have been pretty busy working with clients. I really need to stop with this so I can validate some MODs. Tomorrow I’ll make time to validate MODs.
Time for bed.
