Pogs and the 90s
April 20th, 2006, 07:14 pm
The other day pogs popped into my head. I have no idea why or where it came from. It was a sweet blast from the past. I remember collecting the little circles of card board and playing during recess at school. Pogs were awesome!
Here is a bunch of things from the 90s that I enjoyed reading and bringing back some great memories. I miss being a kid.
I didn’t write this. I snatched it off of MySpace.
You’re a 90’s kid if:
You’ve ever ended a sentence with the word “SIKE!”
You can sing the rap to “The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air”
You remember when Kurt Cobain, Tu Pac, River Phoenix, and Selena died.
You know that “WOAH” comes from Joey from “Blossom” and that “How Rude!” comes from Stephanie from “Full House”

When you begged to go to McDonalds for dinner everyday.
When Toys R Us overuled the mall.
Go back to the time when:
Decisions were made by going ‘eeny-meeny-miney-moe’.
Mistakes were corrected by simply exclaiming ‘do over!’
‘Race issue’ meant arguing about who ran the fastest.
Money issues were handled by whoever was banker in ‘Monopoly’.
act like you didn’t watch afro-king BOB ROSS paint trees on T.V.
It wasn’t odd to have two or three ‘best’ friends.
Being old referred to anyone over 20.
A chance to skate as a couple at the local roller rink was like winning the lottery.
Scrapes & bruises were kissed & made better.
It was a big deal to finally be tall enought to ride the ‘big people’ rides at the fair.

I feel old.
Thanks, Eric. =)
By Stu15 on April 20th, 2006 at 9:54 pm
Indeed, I agree with you there Xore, that make me fell old.
By smithy_dll on April 24th, 2006 at 6:04 pm
If I didn’t feel old already, *cries*
I don’t recognise all the brands, and some of them came to cable TV post 2000 in Australia (like all the nick shows), but yeh, I’d recognise maybe half of that, not bad for the other side of the world.
You guys ever have TAZO’s and ODD BODZ (late 90s)?
It was also a time when you had weekend sport and no weekend homework/assignments *angry*.
The internet was something you got on at most 7 hours a month, and used to look up websites which actually contained information worth reading.
Message Boards didn’t exist.
XHTML was a pipe-dream.
A 33.6kbps modem was the thing
bps was still called baud
Nursery Rhymes weren’t banned due to possible racist interpretations by adults, I mean look at how racist we grew up to be! ;P
You would try and get a coveted metal tazo slammer.
You tried to collect all the glow in the dark pogs and odd bodz.
The Y2k bug would destroy us all.
computer games were about fun, not graphics.
Your computer would actually crash
devil sticks were in
then yoyos
and those other things
and those delayed pop up things
you would take a birthday cake to school
Maxis weren’t owned by EA
you knew all the cheats to sim city 2000
When the grocery store would carry all your favourite brands
When the grocery store actually carried normal flavours of ice cream
By Nephrus on April 25th, 2006 at 5:30 pm
That brings back memories of when I actually had a recess.
By Andrew on April 26th, 2006 at 7:09 pm
I actually can relate to most, if not all, of those. I’m not old yet though.
By Edward on May 9th, 2006 at 3:20 am
I grew up with that stuff
By who_cares on May 12th, 2006 at 7:59 pm
I remember doing about half of that stuff.
and I’m suprised Legos weren’t on that list.
I wish games were still about fun
By smithy_dll on May 12th, 2006 at 11:16 pm
Sacrilege for saying “Legos”, thats an Italian pasta sauce. What you meant to say was ‘Lego blocks’, or ‘Lego sets’. Lego is a company name and registered trademark, their product are Lego sets which contain a dozen to a few hundred Lego blocks.

I remember the good ol’ days (way way back 90’s!). Here in the philippines we used to do some of the stuff listed above, specially Ninja Turtles and Power Rangers.. But what about the Simpsons?
