New Laptop

I decided to spend all of my money and bought a laptop yesterday. It is a Compaq Presario V3010US. The specs:
- AMD Turion™ 64 X2 TL-50 (1.6GHz)
- 512 MB Memory (upto 4GB)
- 100 GB (5400 rpm) hard drive
- 8x DVD±R/RW drive with Double layer support and Light Scribe
- 802.11b/g wireless
- 10/100/1000mb ethernet
- NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 video card
- 14.1 in wide screen with Brightview or whatever that is called, 1280 x 800 Resolution
- Windows XP Home Edition with SP2
That pretty much covers the basics. I want to upgrade the memory to atleast a GB, get a wireless mouse (I don’t like touchpads) and possibly a cooling pad. This will have to wait until my next paycheck though. I’m completely out of money
It looks very pretty. I like it a lot so far. I hope I don’t have any problems with it. It didn’t come with any system restore disks. You’re suppose to make those yourself and it was telling me it was going to take 15 CDs. Screw that. I can buy the discs online for about $16 so I think I’ll do that.

You only need three DVD’s (single layer) to create the restore disks. I just bought one and really like it. I have upgraded it to a GB. You may want to check to see if it has a single 512MB or two 256MB sticks.
It can only be upgraded to 2GB based on all of the documentation I have been able to find.
Enjoy it!!

It was two 256MB sticks. I bought two 512MB sticks that came yesterday so I’m running on 1GB now.
I’m not getting the restore discs either. I installed Windows XP Professional that I had lying around and I downloaded all of the drivers from HP’s website so I don’t need the restore discs anymore. Got everything I need to run this computer and I don’t have to deal with all of the advertisements and extra crap they put on these things.
